Apotheosis: In the Beginning
Every great story has a beginning, and this is where many Game Masters struggle, especially those new to the Game Master's craft. There is so much more to beginning a successful campaign than just throwing some characters together and cracking open a monster manual – and a lack of adequate planning before the game begins will show in the long run. To make your next game the best game you've ever run, come to this panel! Let veteran Game Master and all – around super nerd Jim Deeley show you many of the tips and tricks he has learned the hard way over more than a decade of trying and failing to run the perfect roleplaying campaign. This panel will teach you how to plan for a successful campaign from the outset, from the initial idea all the way to character creation & the first session of play. We will discuss the role of the game master in detail, the basics of plot design, rules set selection, whether and how to use prepared campaign supplements, do an in – depth exploration of the character creation process, and finish up with a plan to kick your game off with a bang louder than a barrage of cannon fire! Come, and let's get you started on writing the best game your players have ever experienced! (Author's Note: While this panel more than most is geared with my core audience of Game Masters in mind, this panel still contains many insights useful to writers, playwrights, webcomic artists, and any other creative person whose medium involves the art and craft of storytelling. We welcome you to come and join our panel.)

SFS 1-09: Live Exploration Extreme!

Character levels 1-4

Written by John Compton

Although the Society was unaware of what existed within the false moon Salvation's End when it obtained exploration rights, Starfinders have since identified a vast, uncharted megacomplex within. The Society's ready to launch its first major expedition into the interior, yet there is one slight complication: in order to fund its initial survey missions, the Society accepted a grant that requires this first mission be televised by an Eoxian reality show. What is already a momentous mission for the Society is only exacerbated by the mandatory presence of an unliving camera crew—not to mention the interference of the live studio audience in orbit! Can the PCs uncover the secrets of Salvation's End while upholding the Society's publicity deal (perhaps becoming celebrities in the process)?

Content in Live Exploration Extreme! is a continuation of the Starfinder Society special, Starfinder Society #1–00: Claim to Salvation.

Apotheosis: A World of Characters
The Player Characters are not alone in their world. Ideally, they are the leads in a cast of dozens of characters, surrounded by interesting, richly - detailed people with lives of their own, with their own Wants, Needs, and Motivations, whose interactions with the Player Characters shape the course of the game. But how do you create an entire world full of people and still have a life outside of game? Come to this panel on NPC creation to learn from expert NPC Maker Jim Deeley, a GM who has been creating all sorts of little people for his PCs to interact with for over a decade of Game Mastering. We will discuss shortcuts to writing your game that will allow you to do more with less NPCs by focusing tightly on the people who truly matter to the PCs and leaving the people who do not in the background. We will learn how to use the NPCs' Wants, Needs, and Motivations to give the NPCs a purpose and a goal to work towards, with or without the PCs help, and how the NPCs' perspectives are shaped by their place in society. We will take an in – depth look at the world where the PCs live, including studies on the complex relationships between PCs and the members of several different social classes. We will even consider the perspectives of NPCs unique to the genre, like savage monsters, devious outsiders, and even the gods themselves. We will also learn how to roleplay the reactions the NPCs have to the Players' Characters appropriately and believably. After this panel, you will know everything you need to create a living, breathing world full of vibrant and interesting characters, and how to create just enough of them to draw the PCs into the plot you are weaving, and to fulfill their purposes in your story as the supporting cast to the Legendary Heroes that are your Player's Characters. (Author's Note: A vibrant cast of characters is a vital component of a successful roleplaying game, but it is equally vital to the stories told in many other creative mediums, and while this was written with Game Masters in mind, any storyteller can benefit from a strong supporting cast to play against their main characters – the Player Characters of your stories. We welcome you to come and join this panel, and learn how to fill your worlds with unique and dynamic characters too!)

PFS 9-12: Shrine of the Sacred Tempest

Character levels 1-5

Written by Justin Juan

Outside of a remote village in the tengu nation of Kwanlai, a generations-old group of shrinekeepers has dutifully watched over a holy site that commemorates celestial forces that fell in battle against a qlippoth invasion in the distant past. By tradition, the guardians report to celestial forces every 10 years, but these guardians have fallen silent. A messenger from Heaven has called upon the Pathfinder Society to investigate the historic site and uncover the truth behind the shrinekeepers' fate.

Contents in Shrine of the Sacred Tempest also contribute directly to the ongoing storyline of the Silver Crusade faction.

PFS 9-15: The Bloodcove Blockade

Character levels 3-7

Written by Nicholas Wasko

The Aspis Consortium has poached relics from the Mwangi Expanse for decades, but the organization has recently identified a wealth of rare minerals deep in the Kaava Lands. The biggest catch is that the Society is familiar with this area, and a massive mining operation like the one the Consortium's planning wouldn't just disrupt local cultures; it risks unleashing a powerful fiend the Pathfinder Society narrowly kept sealed away.

Such a large operation is beyond the capacity of a few agents to stop. Instead, the Exchange is armed and ready to strangle Bloodcove's imports to shut down the Consortium's plan before it can inflict too much damage. For this maneuver to work, though, the Exchange needs allies and intelligence within Bloodcove, made all the more essential now that the Society's sole agent in Bloodcove has disappeared.

Contents in The Bloodcove Blockade also contribute directly to the ongoing storyline of the Exchange faction.

Character levels 3-6

Written by Kate Baker

In order to retrieve valuable resources necessary to repair the Wayfinders' flagship, the PCs follow-up on another team's investigative mission to a long-abandoned Starfinder Society lodge on a world in the Vast. Finding the lodge submerged and already partially flooded, the PCs quickly realize they are far from alone in the depths of the distant world's ocean.

Content in Sanctuary of Drowned Delight also contributes to the ongoing goals of the Wayfinders faction.

PFS 8-25: Unleashing the Untouchable

Character levels 12-15

Written by Robert Brookes

The Pathfinder Society has secured the tools and uncovered the secret to shattering the Untouchable Opal and liberating the demigod within. All the Pathfinders lack is an impossibly hot flame—one that can match the searing hatred of Ymeri herself. The Society’s best bet is Kandirion’s Pyre, a supernatural forge situated where the elemental planes of earth and fire relentlessly batter each other. Freeing a demigod could send ripples through the multiverse and attract the attention of powerful creatures. Only the greatest agents stand a chance of breaking the Opal and surviving.

PFS 9-14: Down the Verdant Path

Character levels 1-5

Written by Scott Sharplin

Few dare tread through the ancient groves of the Verduran Forest, and those who do settle in these woodlands tend to stay close to their communities. Mystery and danger rarely deter agents of the Pathfinder Society, however. When the semi-retired Pathfinder Falbin ventured from his home deep in the wood, he came across an unexpected pocket of flourishing growth and summer weather in the middle of the wintery forest. He fears that this disturbance is the work of a cabal of druids whose mayhem the Society ended six years ago. Have the druids returned to wreak havoc, or are other forces at play?

Contents in Down the Verdant Path also contribute directly to the ongoing storyline of the Concordance faction.

Released February 2018.

Apotheosis: The Epic Quest
Everyone who has ever cracked a roleplaying book has seen themselves in the role of a hero of a grand epic, a world – shattering, high – stakes game of dice with destiny, to wage epic wars of conquest, to slay rampaging monsters of legend, to win fortunes and lose them again, and to combat evil on an epic scale where the entire world is at stake. This is because most of us have been fed a steady diet of One – Person – Against – The – World Epics, and we carry these expectations with us when we step into the shoes of our Player Characters, whether we admit to it or not. As the Game Master, it is the very core of our chosen role in the roleplaying troupe to provide this adventure. But there is a huge obstacle to the Game Master's ability to plan out and execute a coherent plot: The other members of the troupe, whose Player Characters represent uncontrollable elements of chaos whose actions are constantly changing the world around them in unexpected ways, and who see it as nothing less than their divine right to go anywhere they want and do anything they want. Executing a coherent plot with these creatures of chaos running around intent on disrupting your carefully laid plans has been compared to the problem of herding cats, but believe it or not, it can be done. To learn some of the better ways of persuading the PCs to stop burning down villages at random and take up arms against the world – ending horror you have planned for them to defeat, come to this panel, and let the experienced plot – weaver Jim Deeley show you some of his favorite tricks for convincing PCs to become the Heroes they are meant to be, as well as how to write an Epic Plot worthy of the PCs involvement, to write in everyone's PCs throughout the narrative arc, how to work epic twists and turns into the plot that no one will see coming, and how to set up the Epic Finale that leaves everyone walking away feeling like they saved the world! Come, and learn how to write the next great epic – starring none other than your Player's Characters. (Author's Note: Writing the plots of great stories is key to the Game Master's craft, but it is also at the heart of the work of every other creative medium involving the art and craft of storytelling. Authors, playwrights, webcomic writers, screenwriters, and many other creative types can benefit from the insights of this panel, and we welcome you to come and participate!)

SFS 1-04: Cries From the Drift

Character levels 1-4

Written by Joe Pasini

A missing Starfinder ship's distress signal would have gone unnoticed were it not for a passerby detecting it and selling the information to the Society. The PCs are to travel to the crippled starship, and once aboard, reach the bridge in order to piece together the tragic story of the vessel's lost crew. Only by unraveling the mysteries of the drifting starship can the PCs hope to uncover information critical to the Exo-Guardians future operations.

Content in Cries From the Drift also contributes to the ongoing goals of the Exo-Guardians faction.

Written by Tim Hitchcock

The failure of Mendev's wardstones set in motion not only a new crusade but also catalyzed a change in the Pathfinder Society's various factions. As the Pathfinders prepare to march on the Sky Citadel Jormurdun, members of the various factions scramble to consolidate their gains and neutralize their enemies. "The Paths We Choose" is a special event designed to highlight the changes in each faction over the course of Season 5, The Year of the Demon, and the adventure is different for each group depending on which factions are represented at the table.

PFS 9-07: Salvation of the Sages

Character levels 7-11

Written by Matt Duval

For millennia an order of scholars known as the Jeweled Sages catalogued the wisdom and lore of northern Garund's greatest minds within crystalline artifacts. Though these sage jewels have recently resurfaced, so too has the new generation of sages learned that something else dwells within besides ancient memories. The entire order gathers where the Jeweled Sages truly began in order to confront their hidden past, purge an ancient evil that has haunted them for ages, and define the future of the Scarab Sages faction.

Contents in "Salvation of the Sages” also contribute directly to the ongoing storyline of the Scarab Sages faction.
